Coffee Love

Posted by Admin

Coffee is a part of my daily breakfast. My morning won’t be complete without it. I’d even have coffee than eat a small amount of food for brekkie. It makes me alert the whole day. I love coffee but I don’t drink more than two cups every day. I know that drinking coffee has health benefits such as it helps prevent Parkinson’s disease, dementia and heart problem and drinking a lot will have a negative effect. I’ve tried drinking too much and the effect? I woke up with eye bags! Ever since, I only drink coffee once or twice if I can’t help it.

Pancake House’s Almondigas Soup

I don’t cook much and dine out frequently but I’ll still post food related topics. I’m starting with Almondigas Soup. Almondigas means meatball. I like it fried or with soup. I also cook it sometimes but the best I’ve tasted is the one from Pancake House. I always order it together with beef tapa or salisbury steak. My mom also cooks this soup but she uses fish instead of ground beef or ground pork. It’s yummy as well. This soup is best paired with fried dishes such as pork, fish or chicken.

Pancit Malabon

Pancit Malabon is a Filipino noodle which originated in Malabon. This is one of my favorite pancit and my mom cook it best for me. There are lots of food that can be placed as toppings such as shrimps, oysters, squid, egg, vegetables, dried fish and pork. I like it better with rice cake as the saltiness and the sweetness of the two when combined is yummy! Why am I posting about this today? It’s because when I was at Patient First Glorietta, the nurses there are eating this food and the smell made me crave for it! I was planning to buy one from Amber’s but wasn’t able to because I was in a hurry to go home. Oh well, I’ll just satisfy my cravings tomorrow.

Baked Foods

I like eating baked foods. Not only they are healthy because these foods are low in fat, but they are really yummy as well. I think nothing can go wrong if the food is baked. Among the baked foods I like are ziti, lasagna, macaroni, ribs, potato and chicken. I haven’t tried mac and cheese but once I could afford to buy an oven, that’s the first thing I would do. I really want to learn how to bake a cake too. These are a must in my goals this year, to be able to save for oven and learn how to bake.

Polvoron Recipe

I went to the mall to shop some blouses and I bought DK with me. Before we went home, we ate at McDonalds. In front of that is Max’s Restaurant. I was enticed to check out their other baked products but I ended up buying their polvoron. I tasted their polvoron and it was yummy! DK loved it too! When it was gone, DK asked for more so I came up with the idea that we can just make our own polvoron. I went to Shopwise to buy the ingredients needed to make the polvoron. I also bought a polvoron shaper, if that’s what it can be called. The polvoron we’ve made contains less sugar, as in only about two table spoons since DK gets rashes if she have eaten too much sweets. So what are the ingredients? 4 cups All Purpose Flour 1/2 bar of butter 2 table spoons sugar (original recipe I’ve found says 2 cups) 1 cup rice pops 2 cups powdered milk The procedure is quite easy. Pour the flour in a non-stick pan and mix it until brown. Place it in a clean bowl and pour the melted butter. Mix it’s even then place the milk, sugar and rice pops. Mix until everything is even then put inside the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Use a mold and place inside a cellophane or Japanese paper. I liked it because it’s our own version and it’s not that sweet!

Pancit Pato

One of the twins’ yaya is from Iloilo. An eighteen year old girl, she likes Twin A, pitying her whenever hubby gets mad at her (yes, hubby scolds the babies even if they are months old, saying they can understand us already). We treat her as our kid as well, giving advices when needed. Saturday is her day off so today, she’ll be going to Bulacan in her sister’s house. She said she’s excited for tomorrow because she’ll be bring back a pancit pato. I asked her “what? is it a noodle soup made from pato?” (pato = duck in English). She said no, but the brand of the noodle is “pato”. I can’t help but laugh. I thought the noodle was made from a duck, flattened and all, LOL! She said ate Marilyn (the all-around helper) will be the one to cook it. According to them, it’s very yummy. I can’t wait to taste it. I love noodles!
